The Patient Advocate Foundation offers an educational scholarship to those who have suffered (or are suffering) a life threatening disease or chronic condition.

It's for individuals, under the age of 25, that are or have been diagnosed with cancer or a critical or life threatening disease. You must write an essay of less than 1000 words about how your diagnosis has impacted your live and your future goals.  In addition, you need to submit two letters of reference.

Michael Yasick ADHD Scholarship by Shire

For students dealing with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) their time in school can be a difficult and challenging period. The Michael Yasick ADHD Scholarship by Shire (formerly known as the Shire ADHD Scholarship Program) offers those students a $2,000 scholarship and one year of coaching services for their ADHD.

American Physical Society Minority Scholarship

The APS Minority Scholarship Program has been suspended until further notice (formerly with a February deadline).
 

The American Physical Society Minority Scholarship is for an African-American, Hispanic American, or Native American U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is majoring or planning to major in physics, and who is a high school senior, college freshman, or sophomore is eligible to apply for the scholarship.

National Peace Essay Contest

The Academy for International Conflict Management and Peacebuilding runs the National Peace Essay Contest. They believe that questions about peace, justice, freedom, and security are vital to civic education. Over 1,100 students submit entries to the essay contest annually.

National Geographic Photo Contest

Will you be one of the 16,000 contest entries to the National Geographic Photo Contest 2013? They receive entries from photographers from 130 countries. Contest is open only to individuals who have reached the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence at the time of entry and there is a $15 entry fee.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship Program

The AXA Achievement Community Scholarship is sponsored by the AXA Foundation which is the philanthropic arm of AXA Equitable. More than 300 students, known as AXA Achievers, are selected to receive a $2,000 award.

The application deadline is February 1, 2014, but if 10,000 applications are recieved before that date, the program will automatically close.
