The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo Scholarships

The Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo is an independent, private, nonprofit organization serving people from eight counties (Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming) of Western New York. Established in 1919, they have been serving the community ever since and they have been awarding scholarships since 1924.  They are dedicated to the improvement of their community. They are supported by private and public donors and seek contributions primarily from the community they serve.

Using money they have collected, they offer scholarships to students to further their education. Last year they gave $2 million in scholarships to 1600 students. Although the bulk of the scholarships are offered to high school seniors, some funds are available for for graduate students in the fields of architecture, arts, engineering, medicine, nursing, piano, environment, and wildlife.

This year applications are due March 1 and supporting documents must be received by April 1st. The scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $6,000.  To apply for a scholarship, fill out the application available here.
