You must be a participant in a program sponsored by a local NJTL Program/Chapter Formerly known as the Annual Arthur Ashe Essay & Art Contest, the sponsors are now calling it the 17th Annual Arthur Ashe Essay and Photo Contest.
The competition asks students to address the statement:
Charlie Pasarell is one of the Founders of National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL). NJTL has impacted millions of kids throughout the country over the past 46 years. The game of tennis serves as a mechanism to break down barriers and bring people of diverse backgrounds together. This was true in Charlie Pasarell’s and Arthur Ashe’s era, and still holds true today. So we ask:
Who is a local NJTL hero in your community that resembles what Mr. Pasarell has done through NJTL?
Eligibility:
- Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and/or D.C., 18 or younger who are participants in a program sponsored by a local NJTL Program/Chapter.
- Contestants will compete in one of the five age categories.
