Scholarship Fund for California Community Colleges

A $68 million scholarship fund has been created for the California Community Colleges to provide support to over 3300 students.

The scholarship endowment includes a gift of $25 million from the Bernard Osher Foundation.  There were over 90 community colleges involved in the fund raising effort.  They have been suffering from state funding cuts.

The fund will provide $1,000 to students who meet financial aid guidelines and will pay for textbooks, lab fees and other expenses.
This appears to be the largest fund raising effor of any community college in the nation.
