SAE International offers scholarships for high school seniors planning on studying engineering. The following scholarships are offered:

BMW / SAE Engineering Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. resident.
  • 3.75 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale (required).
  • Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores.
  • Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program.

SAE / Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. resident
  • Current high school senior.
  • 3.0 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT 1 or the composite ACT scores.
  • Pursuing a bachelor/associate degree in engineering or technology through an ABET accredited program.
  • Planning to attend an accredited college or university in the United States.
  • Past or present students in a Ford Next Generation Learning Community, and/ or past or present students of a Ford PAS program at their high school or in a Ford PAS afterschool/weekend/summer/college program.

Dan and Vicky Hancock Scholarship for Mechanical Engineering Excellence

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. Resident
  • Open to all applicants - freshman through senior
  • Required major: mechanical engineering
  • GPA requirements: 3.5 for high school applicants and a 3.0 cumulative college GPA for upperclassmen
  • SAT/ACT requirement: ACT Composite: 24 and/or SAT score: Math - 600 or above; Critical Reading - 550 or above
  • Required documents include: official high school transcript and/or college transcripts; SAT/ACT scores; completed FAFSA form; two letters of recommendation - one from an advisor of a related extracurricular activity; and an essay that outlines financial need and career interest
  • Other: preference given to Kettering University students; participation in extracurricular activities relating to academic degree or career intent (such as, but not limited to, CDS projects) that indicates leadership potential

Edward D. Hendrickson / SAE Engineering Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. resident.
  • 3.75 grade point average.
  • Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores.
  • Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program.

Donald and Barbara Mozley Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. Resident
  • Open to all applicants - freshman through senior at an ABET accredited program college or university
  • 3.5 or better for high school applicants
  • SAT I math of 600 or above and critical reading of 550 or above, and/or an ACT composite score of 27 or above
  • Financial need as determined by a completed FAFSA form
  • One letter of recommendation

Tau Beta Pi / SAE Engineering Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. Resident
  • 3.75 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale (required)
  • Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores.
  • Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program.

TMC / SAE Donald D. Dawson Technical Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. resident
  • 3.25 grade point average.
  • SAT I math 600 or above and critical reading 550 or above and/or an ACT composite score 27 or above.
  • Pursue an engineering or related science degree through an ABET accredited program.
  • Students transferring from accredited four-year colleges/universities must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average.
  • Students transferring from post-secondary technical/vocational schools must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average and meet all other requirements of the engineering program to which they apply.

Fred M. Young Sr. / SAE Engineering Scholarship

Student Eligibility Requirements:

  • U.S. resident.
  • 3.75 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale (required).
  • Rank in the 90th percentile in both math and critical reading on SAT I or composite ACT scores.
  • Pursuing an engineering degree through an ABET accredited program.

 

The scholarships given by the SAE Foundation for college students have a deadline of February 15, 2016.
