Participation in the DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition for Elementary School Students is dependant on the grade. Younger students participate as part of a classroom project. Older students can participate in groups of two to four students.

 

Each grade level has its own additional grade-specific instructions. Please consult the appropriate grade level's page for more information on the Challenges, entry format, and group size.

Eligibility:

  • School-based classrooms for grades K-5
  • Students currently enrolled in grades K-5, led by their classroom teacher
  • Students attending public and private schools in the United States, Canada, or their territories
  • Note: Home schools, online schools, after-school programs, clubs and associations, gifted and talented programs, and other non-classroom groups are not eligible at this time
  • Students enrolled in Department of Defense schools in grades K-5
