Sacramento State’s Computer Science Department Receives $1.1 Million NSF Grant

A $1.1 million National Science Foundation Grant has been given to Sacramento State’s Computer Science Department.  It will provide scholarships for 15 students to be trained as information security specialists.  The grant is Co-sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, and provides financial assistance to students in return for their commitment to serve a federal agency in a cyber security position for the duration of the scholarship, or one year, whichever is longer.  The scholarships cover most expenses and last up to two years.  In addition, there is an annual stipend.  The department will choose recipients on the basis of merit.
