Washington State University Receives $2.5 Million for Undergraduate Science Study

Washington State University has received a gift of more than $2.5 million from the estate of Barbara Bethards a 1974 economics major at WSU.  The gift will be used to support students in the Regents Scholars program and encourage Washington’s best students to remain in the state.

The WSU Regents Scholars Program recognizes outstanding high school students and rewards them with substantial scholarships. The program each year asks high school educators and Native American tribal leaders to recognize two students from their schools by nominating them for the scholarships.

Both Barbara Bethards and her parents attended WSU.
