Community Foundation of Birmingham
The Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham is the oldest and largest community foundation in Alabama. It was founded in 1959 for and by the community as a perpetual public endowment.
Award for Excellence (open to Ramsay High School students only): $5,000 per year, for one male and one female Ramsay student; Community Foundation-$1,500 per year for one Birmingham high school student. Both are renewable for up to four years as long as 3.0 GPA is maintained.
Community Foundation Scholarship (open to students at high schools in the Birmingham School System): $1,500 per year, renewable for up to four years as long as 3.0 GPA is maintained.
ELG Scholarships (open to students invited by a separate mailing): It is expected that applicants in high school will have a 3.5 grade point average on a 4-point scale and a minimum ACT score of 20 or SAT score of 1000. College applicants should have a 3.0 grade point average on a 4-point scale.
Colonel James M. Sims Memorial Scholarship (open to members of the Marine Corps Reserve, 4th Marine Division, Antiterrorism Battalion deserving Marines through the generosity of Col. Sims and his family. The scholarship is meant to be a living testament of the memory of Col. Sims’ honorable service in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
