Cancer Survivor Scholarship
California Young Cancer Survivor Scholarship Program
The American Cancer Society, California Division, Inc. Young Cancer Survivor Scholarship Program awards stipends of up to $7500 per academic year for educational expenses to college-bound pediatric cancer survivors in need of financial aid. This program is no longer being offered.
Eligibility:
- California resident
- cancer survivor diagnosed at 18 years or younger
- age 24 or younger at the time of application
- able to demonstrate financial need
- planning to attend or are attending a 2 or 4 year accredited undergraduate institution of higher education in California
High Plains Childhood Cancer Survivor Scholarships
The High Plains Division of the American Cancer Society offers up to $1,000 academic or vocational trade school scholarships to selected applicants. Applicants will be evaluated based upon an essay, financial need, and GPA.
Eligibility:
- Must be a legal resident of Guam, Hawaii, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, or Texas.
- Must have received cancer diagnosis before age 21.
- Must be under age 25 at time of application.
- Be a high school senior, or already in college, and have a GPA of at least 2.0 (based on a 4.0 scale).
- Must be accepted to and or attend an accredited college or university for undergraduate education, trade or vocational school.
Youth Scholarship Program - Midwest Division
For students under the age of 25 who live in Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin and were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21, there are several scholarships to pay for college or tech/vocational school. The deadline is March 15, 2013.
Eligibility:
- You are eligible to apply for an American Cancer Society youth scholarship if you:
- Were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21
- Are under the age 25 at the time of application
- Are a legal resident of Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin for at least one year
- Have been accepted to attend an accredited two or four year university or vocational/technical school
- Have completed the application process
- must provide your Estimated Financial Contribution (EFC) score from your Free Application for Financial Student Aid (FAFSA)
Ohio Youth Cancer Survivor College Scholarship
For students under the age of 25 who live in Ohio (in Columbiana, Erie Mahoning, or Trumbull County) and were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21, there is a $1,000 scholarships to pay for college or university. The deadline is March 29, 2013.
Eligibility:
- Resident of Ohio, living in Columbiana, Erie Mahoning, or Trumbull County;
- U.S. citizen;
- Diagnosed with cancer before age 21;
- Under age 25 at time of application; and
- Plan to attend an accredited university or community college in the United States.
Childhood Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program - Great West Division
For students under the age of 25 who live in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington or Wyoming and were diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21, there is a $2,500 scholarship to pay for college, university or vocational school. The deadline is February 22, 2013.
Eligibility:
- Diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21
- Age 25 or younger at the time of application
- U.S. citizen
- A resident of Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington or Wyoming
- Have a 2.5 GPA or above
- Accepted without condition to an accredited university, college, community college or vocational technical school
- Must become a full time student at an accredited university, college, community college or vocational technical school in the upcoming academic year
