The Austin Community Foundation is a major philanthropic organization in Central Texas. The Foundation manages nearly 1000 charitable funds, established by individual donors, corporations, nonprofit agencies and partner foundations.

Students seeking scholarships should check with their high school counselor or financial aid office since the majority of Foundation scholarships are made available through local high schools. However, those funds that provide applications online are listed below. Scholarship funds are made for tuition and related educational expenses and are paid directly to the educational institution.

Albert R. Ochoa Scholarship

The Albert R. Ochoa Scholarship has been established to honor Coach Ochoa for his service of over 30 years to the Austin Independent School District. Albert has served as the beloved tennis coach at Anderson High School and art teacher at Burnet Junior High. This scholarship will support graduating seniors in AISD who have shown an interest/ability in art and/or tennis and will be continuing their education beyond high school. Download the application.

Michael Argall Scholarship

Application is AISD application with essay attachment "what are your plans post-education?" Mail application to Austin Community Foundation (AISD graduating senior, financial need, minimum GPA 3.0, must be a track or cross country athlete - not necessarily planning to participate in college). Austin Amateur Radio Club Scholarship

Must be graduating or a graduate of high school in the Central Texas area or connected with the Austin Amatuer Club, have a 3.0 (B) average and hold a valid amateur radio license and continuing to a higher institution. Download the application.

Bess Whitehead Scott Journalism Scholarship

Must be currently enrolled at one of the following universities: Baylor University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University, Texas State University, University of Mary Hardin-Baylor or University of North Texas, must be a Junior or Senior in the Fall Semester of the same calendar year as the application deadline, must be pursuing study toward a degree in Journalism or related field, must demonstrate financial need. Support Behind the Badge Scholarship Fund

The Support Behind the Badge Scholarship in memory of Leonard Reed is offered to graduating seniors from a Leander ISD High School (Rouse High School, Cedar Park High School, Leander High School, Vista Ridge High School). Applicant must be a resident of Texas, have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and intend to pursue a career in law enforcement. Download the application.
